Umpire Appointments for the 2011/12 season
There will be 4 fixed poolsheets covering the season, 2 before and 2 after Christmas. Greater use of club umpires is inevitable. They will be appointed to neutral games, and be expected to travel to neutral venues. Clubs will be asked to name the umpires that they have appointed to those games that the Pool Secretary has nominated them (the clubs) to cover. Clubs will be expected to appoint suitable Level-1 umpires. This may mean someone who is not just Level-1 qualified, but also has some experience in umpiring. In Norfolk suitable umpires are those who have been coached, trained and assessed to Level-1 standard, and are currently active. Club umpires will be named and deployed on the poolsheet in advance of the fixtures. Failure to provide suitably experienced umpires may lead to sanctions and penalties being applied by the East League. The East Leagues will be monitoring the situation and examining the teams sheets and poolsheet appointments to see that clubs are honouring their commitments across the whole of the East region.
For this season NHUA will endeavour to appoint umpires to all Men's Div 1 games, to all Men's Div 2N and to all Women's East League Div 1N games for Norfolk teams, and we are going to try and appoint some neutral umpires to Mens Divison 3NE. We may not have enough experienced/senior umpires to cover all of these games each week. The shortfall will be made up by using club umpires.
.Please note that the umpires' match fee is £15. Please have it ready before the game starts. This is to cover travelling and other out-of-pocket expenses, recently there has been a dramatic rise in the cost of fuel and this is reflected in the match fee.
Umpire appointments to HA Cup and Vase Games
It is the responsibility of the home (Norfolk) team to contact the the NHUA Pool Secretary as soon as details of the fixture are known. In the first instance NHUA will try to appoint suitable umpires for the game. In later rounds of these competitions, the ERHUA will normally make the umpire appointments. Failure to inform us in good time may result in no umpires being appointed.
