Level-1 Umpiring Award - List of Practical Assessors

After successfully completed the theory test and umpired 3 games; to attain the Level-1 award candidates need to be assessed. Candidates now have 2 years to complete this process. Candidates are Associate of NHUA for this period and as such are fully covered by the NHUA public liability insurance policy. Candidates must be seen to umpire a complete game of hockey (not Mini Hockey or a school game) by an umpire coach/assessor. Here is the current list of Norfolk assessors:-

Alan Jones 01603 747956   Denise West 01263 511670
Peter Lemon 01553 844572

The onus is on the candidate to make arrangements to umpire a suitable and appropiate game. The assessor, on passing the candidate will also inform them as to what level of league game they can umpire. An umpire can ask to be re-graded at any time. It might be prudent for a level-1 candidate to seek the advice of one of the umpire coaches whilst umpiring a 'practice' game. The successful candidate's name is added to our Active Umpires list and their EH L1-registration form is sent off to EH HQ in Milton Keynes to be added to the national register.

Please address any querries to Mike Pepper, the NHUA Chief Coach, in the first instance.

*Please note: It is vital that the candidate brings their match record card to the game. The coach has to sign the card off and forward it on..to me:- Alan Jones (NHUA Level-1 Administrator)
